Sunless Tanner Review: Bondi Sands Liquid Gold Dry Oil

Years ago, I worked at a tanning salon right after high school and during college. I was SO tan…but tanning every day in a tanning bed is so unbelievably dangerous. Of course, I know that now. But it took me years of being yelled at by my parents and doctors and several skin cancer removal surgeries, to get it through my head. Well, after the first mole removal, I was clearly done with that.

Spray tans are amazing, but they are a lot of work and don’t always fade gracefully. You have to be sticky for an entire 24 hours and it gets all over the place! Sunless tanner is just the most convenient and really has come such a long way since I tried it back in high school.

Needless to say, after being obsessed with being tan for so long, I have tried SO many sunless tanners. Because of that, I am going to share my absolute favorites that I keep in constant rotation.

First up: Bondi Sands Liquid Gold Dry Oil.

A friend of mine recommended this to me years ago, and for only $24 a bottle, it’s much cheaper than a spray tan.

First things first, don’t forget to exfoliate in the shower before you apply any sunless tanner. It will help remove any dry or dead skin and your tan will last longer.

When I use this particular tanner, I jump back in the shower to apply it. Just because it is such a thin liquid, I don’t want to make a mess anywhere else in my bathroom. After I apply it, I can turn the water back on quickly and rinse the shower out.

Personally, I prefer to shower at night before bed so that’s when my before pictures are taken. (Which is the reason why there is less natural light in those pictures). Because of that, I have to make sure whatever tanner I use, doesn’t transfer all over my sheets. So rest assured, whatever tanner I recommend to you, is something that won’t make a huge mess, because I have thoroughly tested it!

Overall review: Works great, honestly. Doesn’t leave you streaky and the color is pretty. This option works much better on your toes and knees compared to many of the other sunless tanners I’ve used, and still use today.

Smell: Not bad, honestly! It has a scent when you first put it on but it’s not your typical sunless tanning smell. It’s more like cocoa! Once it dries, it doesn’t have a smell to me.

Application: It’s called an oil but it goes on much thinner than oil. The liquid is very dark which is always helpful for application. I honestly just use my hands, because I hate using tanning gloves. They work fine, I just feel like I can feel my skin better and where I’m applying it without the glove. This oil you definitely need to let dry before you put your clothes on.-stand in front of the fan and you will dry in no time!

Longevity: It lasts for about a week! That’s with showering, of course, but no exfoliating. The more you moisturize, the longer your tan will last! I love to use the Bondi Sands Gradual Tanning Milk in-between sunless tanning applications. It helps to keep your color and keep your skin moisturized.

Just recently, I bought this applicator for my back. I’m not sure why I have waited so long to buy this thing! It’s only $12 and helps so much so you don’t have a white back vs a nice tanned body! I would always just ignore my back and never cared! Haha. But now I have something to quickly wipe where I can’t reach and it’s amazing!

That’s it! I would love to know if you try out this oil and what you think of it! Head to my socials and share with me! xo
