Celebrating My Pregnancy with a Lingerie Photoshoot
Everyone keeps telling me to really enjoy these last moments with my bump. They all say how much I will miss it when Luca is finally here and my body is “back to normal”. I can definitely see now, finally, what they have been talking about. It’s unfortunate that it took so long for me to finally enjoy my pregnancy and my changing body. But I am so grateful that these last weeks I am happy and feeling good about myself. It’s about damn time! So because of that, I am celebrating my pregnancy with a lingerie shoot…and maybe a little nudity!
Yep you heard that right. I approached RC with the idea for this shoot and he was a little hesitant. Honestly, I think because he has seen my cry and complain so many times the last few months over the way I looked or felt. He’s a smart guy-I’m sure he assumed the shoot would be a disaster and I would hate all the pictures. Which is a fair assumption, given the circumstances.
THE PLAN
I spent a lot of time on Pinterest the last few weeks, searching maternity lingerie shoots. There was a certain style I wanted, so I saved all the inspiration pictures I could find that were similar. I also wanted it to be shot in all black and white-a concept that we ended up changing during the editing process. You see, black and white photos are usually more flattering, especially when you’re not wearing a lot of clothes. I obviously have some extra weight and my tummy is very white compared to the rest of my body, which is covered in sunless tanner. B & W just kind of hides those things you aren’t that comfortable with.
We loved how these window shots turned out so much, that we decided not to edit these in black and white. We opted for a dark, moody edit that I think fits perfectly.
THE OUTFIT (Look 1)
I knew I wanted to wear a black lace underwear and bra set, and loved the idea of a lace robe. This black lace robe was definitely a steal for only $14. No clue if I’ll ever wear it again so I was happy to not spend a lot.
Since I had to buy all new bras and underwear a few months back, I had nothing cute that would work and fit me. I hit up Target, of course, and found some great options under $20! This black lace bra was my favorite because of the added lace band around the bottom. It hid my skin cancer scar and prevented that extra skin roll bra’s create sometimes. I would have preferred the underwear be matching, but I couldn’t find them anywhere. This little boy short pair stood out to me because there was more coverage than a thong but still pretty.
THE OUTFIT (Look 2)
And here I am, living my best Kardashian life in my Calvins. I have become mildly obsessed with CK underwear since becoming pregnant because they are so comfortable. This set I love wearing around the house, honestly just by itself. (This Florida heat is no joke). The bra fits like a sports bra but doesn’t suffocate you and the underwear I now own in a million colors.
And now for the nudity…or the implied nudity. We only got a few shots totally nude for a few reasons.
1: I was trying to nail this stupid pose and it was a struggle.
2: RC couldn’t stop laughing at me trying to get the right angles to cover everything and hold other things in place.
3: This shit was not easy to try and balance while covering and looking pretty. So we were over it pretty quickly.
