Baby Levell Easter Themed Gender Reveal

It’s a BOY!

On Easter Sunday, we hosted our gender reveal party for baby Levell.  So it was only natural that we chose an Easter/bunny/pink and blue theme.   Thankfully, HomeGoods and the dollar store had an abundance of adorable Easter decorations so we didn’t have to over spend.

The real challenge came from trying to decide what kind of reveal we wanted to have!  Gender reveal parties have been popular for awhile now, so it was REALLY hard to come up with a creative idea.  I suggested several things to RC and he hated them all of course, but had no ideas of his own.

When I was running through Easter themed ideas, we thought about doing some sort of egg hunt but who knows how many adults would be up for that.  So the idea of creating a giant hollow chocolate egg came up and I was hooked.  We were going to fill it with candy and maybe some confetti so it would fall out when we cracked it open.

The first obstacle arose very quickly when I couldn’t find an egg mold that was big enough.  I wanted it to make a statement and big enough for everyone to actually see the inside.  I googled until my fingers were raw!  Nothing!!  Nothing until my friend was at Target and found a large plastic Easter egg, and for only $6!  She scooped it up for me and I brought it immediately to my sister for her to start practicing and brainstorming.

My sister is my GO TO for impossible baking tasks.  (Well her and my mom but my sister was very eager to take this one on).  Her first attempt she felt confident with, so I figured she was good to go!  Then RC went a threw a monkey wrench in the whole thing…although he might not realize this part. LOL  He asked how the hell we were going to open or crack it and was afraid that it wouldn’t be that cool or exciting.  So I started searching for chocolate egg cracking videos…I know, I’m crazy.  Then I came across one where the person made the inside look like an amethyst cluster.  Obviously I was obsessed and sent the link immediately to my sister and said “can you do this?!”.

She responded with “wow, um I can try!”.  Poor sister, always getting sucked into my crazy ideas.  She went with me to the ultrasound so she could find out the gender and get the right color rock candy to create the geode look.  She didn’t have much time to finish it all up because my appointment was on Friday the 30th and Easter was just 2 days later.  BUT, after 20 hours of molding the chocolate and creating the BLUE gemstone inside, she was finally finished and could relax a little.  We still didn’t know how we were going to get it open but at least it was made!

That morning, it was decided that we would try to cut it open with a big knife.  When it came down to it, I struggled to get the knife in even after warming up the blade.  She made the egg SO strong!  I finally was able to cut it half way and pull a big chunk off the top front.  To add some extra excitement, I got some blue confetti cannons that my sister and best friend shot off as soon as everyone saw the inside of the egg.  It ended up being perfect and I was so happy with how everything turned out.

Of course, I barely took any pictures of the decorations I spent a month looking for.  The day was such a whirlwind.  I managed to get a few pictures though, with my phone.

My dress is from Sophie and Trey but I don’t see the exact one online.  They did have more in-store if you are local!

We also rented the tent, tables and chairs from Fiesta Party Rentals and Events.  It was a really good package deal for everything.  It was our first time using them but I would give them an 8/10.  Having the shade was definitely important!
